The Joy of Giving .
As I had mentioned , I had a 9 days internship with Singapore Cancer Society from 3Dec to 13Dec and it was way too short , I swear the days flew by . As promised I can't post anything about it , SCS is all about confidentiality , like we get finned 5$ if you leave patient's file on desktop and stuffs . The first day I went to hospice , Dr Rina was like , don't tell your friends or relative anyth . So everyday , I need to think alot before tweeting something , it's like even tweeting something like "how do I go home from xxx" might be considered disclosing patient's address (ps I almost tweeted that but thought better of it .)
So today (assuming I finish this post before 12) 14Dec , SCS held a Christmas Party for Cancer patients and their family , FINALLY SOMETHING I CAN POST ABOUT . this wasn't part of my intern period , but most of us interns volunteered to come back to help them out ! (: So we became volunteers for the day . The difference between volunteers and interns simply put is that one does more loose end jobs , the other gets to experience and get exposed to different aspects of the job like home visits etc .
Okay so this is pretty irrelevant but I need to share about the warmness of SCS. They are really the best organisation ever and I received so much love from them! Bear and Starbucks coffee from BeeKeng and Jayne on Day 1 , our mass salad lunch from John on Day 2 , BBT from Erny on Day 3 , Two small snowman , christmas sweets , orange and snacks from SCS dec party on Day 4 in welfare ! I got tired of traking photos of my daily gifts so I only took photo of ferrero from Joel on Day 6 , Fruit from Hazel on Day 8 , Orange and Chocy from Emily on day 9 , Drinks from patients on Day 5 and 7 ! I like go there to get gifts or something , it's christmas everyday :P

Okay back to the event .
This event I think is held annually at Bishan CC ? not really sure but it's sort of like a carnival style where caregivers and pt get to take part in activities , win games , claim their grant a wish prizes and have refreshments . And everything is 100% free , all the vendors come on a voluntary basis . Not sure about the lunch though , maybe that part wasn't . But the rest of the refreshments , drinks , popcorn , icecream candy floss etc are sponsored ! There's two parts to the carnival , one at the hall area , one outside . The actual event was from 10am to 2pm but we had to reach at 7.30am for the briefing !
I guess I was pretty lucky to get to enjoy the aircon because I was helping out for the balloon sculpting booth ! When I first read the duty list sent by Erny , i thought my job was the lamest ever , giving out balloons and making sure each beneficiaries only had one . Heck I was wrong , I I actually got the toughest job of the volunteers T.T
HOW AWESOME IS THIS SANTA YOU TELL ME . So desperate for one but it was only for prize winners boohoo ):
Some of the balloons I was supposed to give out ! obviously it's not just this two boxes , as we gave out they continuously refilled .
AND THIS ONE , I WANT IT SO BAD but everyone else love it as much as I do so it was gone ):
After the whole event has ended , time to go around to try out stuffs myself ! Went for the massage , had my arms painted and went to watch the caricaturist at work ! THIS TALENTED YOUNG MAN IS ONE YEAR YOUNGER THAN US OMG HE MAKE ME FEEL ASHAMED OF MYSELF WHAT AM I DOING WITH MY LIFE . And yes , all these people provided their services FOC !

Super tiring day but I really enjoyed myself ! Quite sad that my internship with SCS had officially ended and I'm now to normal jobs ); But it's okay because I promised them I'll go back to volunteer next year , yay !

Perks of being in the hall , you not only stay out the sun , you get to watch the performances !
With Zhihao , my partner for the day ! He was super gentleman-ly, asking me to go rest, and go out to eat etc while he take over. Thanks you so much ! (:
Yes I'm aware that I look ridiculous but Uncle or teacher as they call him forced me to wear it okay ): The two of us kept complaining how much our head hurts , HAHAH
And I felt like the meanest person on Earth on the day , everyone was super attracted by the balloon I'm wearing , and when I tried to give it away , I got scolded cause we can't give out complicated sculptures or else everyone who sees it will come to request ): So I was like rejecting everyone the whole day , I'm so sorryyyyyy
And also , because this was a sponsored event , we're only supposed to give stuffs to caregivers and pt but we get alot of people from the public trying to ask for balloons because their child was crying / they want bring home for whoever etc . It was pretty chaotic and I got scolded alot because I sometimes tried to sneakily gave to children who looks sad and didn't have a coupon or sticker . i now sympathise with mean stall owners , maybe they weren't being mean on purpose and didn't have a choice , i swear I felt like the worst person on earth , never ever doing this kind of job again
