Okay, so a lot of people are getting pissed because Talia is getting a lot of praise and attention for her cancer struggles. A lot of people believe it’s just because she’ pretty and young and does YouTube videos.
It’s more than that.
She shows people that cancer does not hold her back from the things she loves to do; cancer doesn’t hold her back from living her life to the fullest.
When people say, “but there’s thousands of other young boys and girls going through the exact same thing, so where’s their recognition? Where’s their support?" I cringe. Why can’t we just be worried and sad and heartbroken for an individual without asking, “why her? Why was she so special?"
Just stop! She’s passing, there’s nothing she can do about other than what’s already being done.
Also, where’s your support when someone like Talia isn’t in the news, or isn’t trending?
Talia gets coverage and trends, but other people get all upset that we don’t concentrate on all the other younglings that are suffering, but when Talia stops trending, where’s your bitching then? Where’s your complaining that childhood cancer needs more awareness then?
This is the same fucking thing that happened with Amanda Todd:
"She only got media coverage because she’s white and pretty."
"Why is she any different from the other boys and girls who complete suicide daily? Where’s their coverage?"
But then it simmers down. The cattiness stops, and people just forget.
So, why? Why her? Why Amanda? Why not someone else?
What makes them so special?
Most importantly, why are you trying to make their cases less important by stating statistics?
Why are you dismissing their suffering just because “there’s thousands more out people like them out there?"" -kittycattykatie
